Chaos erupted at the cinema complex in Al Suwais City, Egypt
last week during the premier screening of the film “Omar Wa
Salma” (Omar and Salma). The film’s star Egyptian singer Tamer
Husni arrived at the screening surrounded by four body guards
and a task force of police officers to maintain order.
The singer was shocked by the large crowd that amassed to watch
the screening, as ticket prices reached as high as 50 Egyptian
pounds.
Upon his arrival Tamer entered the theatre via a back door and
was escorted to his balcony seat. The singer had to deny
numerous requests by fans to be seated next to him.
Once the screening finished, the unwieldy mob of fans prevented
Tamer from being photographed and signing autographs.
Female fans rushed towards the singer attempting to touch him,
tearing his shirt to pieces and bruising his arms.
Additional reinforcements were then called to the scene to
rescue Tamer. The singer was quickly placed in a police car,
making a safe getaway.
