A number of successful press meetings were going on at the Five
Kornsya Hotel in Tunisia. There were only a few minutes between
each press conferences, Asma Al Munawar was the first to go then
Hussein Al Jismi and last but not least Nawal Al Zoughbi.
According to the London daily Elaph, Nawal comes to Carthage
after being away for a long time and justifying her absence by
wanting to stay away from the spotlight for sometime. There were
so many rumors spread about Al Zoghbi that she didn’t feel safe
anymore; therefore, she wanted to stay away.
Nawal adds that she need sometime off and put everything in
perspective. Even though rumors still follow her today, she is
able to focus on what is important in her life.
Nawal talked about if she is welling to start acting in the
movies soon. She doesn’t think she’ll be able to act and she
doesn’t want to enter any new experience that she might regret
later on, besides she doesn’t want to compete against someone
who she’s not able to compete against with.
For her participation at Carthage, Nawal thanked Rotana for
giving her this opportunity. Nawal tried very smartly to not
answer one of the Journalist’s question about how she was able
to work with the person she used in her video clip “Aghla El
Habayeb” (Loved Most). The journalist states that he is
“Bisexual” and Nawal was surprised how he figured that out
because she did not notice such thing.
Nawal talked about the security issue in Lebanon, even though
it hasn’t affected her singing career, yet it affected her
emotionally. She blames politician for what is going on in
Lebanon and she compares the Lebanese people who love freedom to
birds who don’t like to live in cages.
When Nawal was asked about the banning of Lebanese female
singers from Syria, she stated that she doesn’t like talking
about politics. Nawal also adds that she recently sang in Syria
and she has no knowledge on who is banned and who isn’t.
Nawal recently went to refugee camps to give a helping hand to
those who need it. She states that she was one of the firstt o
cancel her concert when the war on Lebanon was going on last
summer. She adds that she could have gone outside of Lebanon
with her kids instead, but she wanted to help out in anyway she
could.
