A very successful performance was held by Lebanese singer Nawal
Al Zoughbi and Majed Al Muhandis. The large numbers of fans who
were present was not expected and Al Muhandis was rewarded for
standing for the first time at the Carthage stages.
There was a great interaction between Al Muhandis and his fans.
He was surprised to know that they have memorized his songs and
they were singing along. Al Muhandis forgot himself while
standing and singing on stage, where he exceeded his time and
kept on singing. His manager and some people from the production
and musical company Rotana had to go up to make him stop singing
in order to make way for Nawal.
According to the London daily Elaph, it did not seem like it
was seven years since Nawal sang at Carthage, because fans were
interacting with her and she sang like a butterfly. The fans had
memorized all her songs from the past and the present. Nawal got
back her glow after being away for sometime. She has proven
herself to be one of the real singers from Lebanon. Nawal
doesn’t compare to those who have entered the music business who
have no talent except to sing almost nude using their bodies to
sell their songs.
The concert, which was aired on the music channel Rotana, was
very intriguing, yet that was not the case behind the scenes.
Journalists were treated rudely by the bodyguards and were not
able to enter behind the scenes to see the preparation of the
singer, yet Rotana was held responsible for not letting them
enter.
The journalists were seated faraway from the singer, where
people at home were able to see what the journalist couldn’t
see. Tunisian journalist blamed Rotana for this reaction since
the relationship between the two isn’t very good.
On the other hand Rotana defended itself by stating if they had
that kind of power they would have stopped the Tunisian
Television from entering and recording the concert since their
contract with Carthage Festival gives them the right that only
Rotana could televise the concert.
The journalists are badly treated and it is not Rotana’s fault,
on the contrary, the security at the Carthage Festival is the
one who mistreated them. They are given back seats, where they
can’t see the singers and the reaction of their fans up close to
be able to better comment on the concerts in their newspapers.
